History of Lions.
Since 1917, Lions have served the world’s population through hard work and commitment to make a difference in the lives of people everywhere.
With nearly ONE AND A HALF MILLION members serving in more than 44,500 clubs in over 185 countries and geographical areas, Lions Clubs International is the worlds largest service club organisation. Lions are recognised worldwide for their service to the blind and visually impaired.
Since Lions were introduced to Britain over 45 years ago, the number of clubs in Britain and Ireland has grown to almost 1000 with a total membership of over 20,000.

Lions are;
People who enjoy working together in fellowship to help those less fortunate than themselves.
People who make light work of their efforts including entertainment in their activities.
People who meet as a group twice a month to exchange news, views and plan their activities.
People who enjoy raising funds for a variety of worthy causes, depending on the needs of their locality.
People who get together for a variety of social events according to the preferences of the members.
People who work unpaid for the love of people, because Lions are people who care about each other and those around them.
